And the person answered "My compassion goes down as people's stupidity goes up"

Food of the Gods

We just got home from what gita called "the closest thing to burning man she's seen in cambridge". It was an amazing party. Performances included the marriage of two brothers, a poem about mud, a harp song about a wheel of cheese, dropping pudding from the heavens into people's mouths (if they were agile), and many more. Some of the creations were: a glowing stage, a bodhi tree combined with Siva's dancing pole, rings and trapeses hanging from the ceiling, a 1 minute video delay system projected on the wall and pointed at itself so the delay became recursive like looking into a mirror with another mirror behind it, and much much more. The whole thing was at ShangriLoft, Romie and Seth's place.

One more pole built

It's not decorated as Siva's Bodhi tree yet, but I built this dancing pole today. I used the same method as I described from the last time I build one. Soon branches will come out of the top of this one for the party tonight: food of the Gods.

Stephen Baird

Stephen is a public performer on dulcimer and other instruments as well as an activist for many causes. He explained to me the history of public performance in Boston and Cambridge and how he has had to go through many court cases to keep the right to public performance and even write some of the licenses carefully to switch the situation around. For example, he wrote the performance license rules in Cambridge so that you now go to the arts council to apply instead of the police department... this way you are treated like an artist rather than a criminal. And, the $40 yearly fee is recycled back into the artists by hiring them instead of spent on arresting performers.
