5 minute light

A 1-way tunnel in marin headlands. The light stays red (and green) for 5 minutes to allow bicyclists and cars enough time to make it all the way through before changing direction of traffic flow.

Failed hacker

McCafee always messes up my computer which is embarrassing cause i'm aspiring to be a hacker. Apparently failed.

friendship tree

i revised the friendship tree today. i added more cushioning and brought the branches in 1.5 feet each, for a 3 ft reduction in diameter. it made a difference, though i'd like to bring them in even more. it's on wheels and is great for sitting around. it's almost ready for the big time -- i just need to figure out what the big time is.

Tree table

all we did was cut out a hole for a tree and put one growing out of the middle of the table, but man did that make a huge difference. i love this table now.

"oneness" not a new discovery

i was reading a review on amazon by someone else about eckhart tolle's new book. here is a snippet from the review, which gave the book one star:
  • There's almost no distinction of this book's essential "teaching" from those you read about in ancient Lao-Tze, Zhuang-Tze, Zen Buddists, and New Age writers. They all exalt "Oneness", universal connections, or "Nothingness". They all "see" through the illusory nature of human perceptions, consciousness, or this reality. And they all offer the promise of another or a deeper "reality" which will transform our sufferings, problems, and conditions of our earth.
the funny part is, i agree, but i give 5 stars.
